What’s new.

So, I’ve read a couple new mangas that I’ve been enjoying very much.

Koizora (Love Sky) was a greart drama!! I watched the movie though so I spoiled the manga a bit.  The manga is still very exciting.

Alice in the Country of Hearts - It’s such a cute play on Alice in Wonderland.  I think I’m in love with Peter White.  *can’t resist bunny form*

Kitchen Princess- It looked really cheesy at first so I didn’t really pick it up but my friend let me borrow it and I thought it was okay.  A bit depressing in some ways, but cute in others.

MPD Psycho- The story is so confusing! But it’s nice.  Murder, mystery, insanity in one nice little bundle.

Monster - An interesting mystery, I can’t wait to pick up the rest of the series.

I’ve also been watching the Hana Yori Dango live action series.  It’s awesome! I love how it is similar to the manga, but different in it’s own way.  So fun to watch!

Aside from reading manga, I’ve been pretty busy with school.  Homework is a never ending pile @.@ but it’s good to be busy right?  Gotta work hard to get somewhere :)

It needs…

More color! It’s just a bunch of text!

A couple new titles

I’ve been reading here and there.  I think more than I should actually, but I found a couple of good titles that I really liked.

The first one was Akuma to Love Song by Tomori Miyoshi.  What I like about it is the main character isn’t weak. She doesn’t cry or whine.  She does have her inner flaws and the manga is about her working through them, but I really like that sort of character.  You expect them to cry, to defend themselves but they don’t so it urges you to keep reading forward.  This one is also a Shoujo (sorry to all my male readers, if I have any, heh) but it’s a good read.  I can’t wait to see how it end. Oh! If only onemanga would update faster!

Okay, the next one: Heart no Kuni no Alice.  I like the Alice in Wonderland theme and the author and artist’s take on the characters. I’m still a little confused about the whole point of it but I think it’ll add up eventually, but like many others I wish it would update faster.  It’s still in it’s early chapters so I can’t tell what’s going going to happen next and if it’ll be worthwhile.  But, for those interested in Alice in Wonderland and pretty man characters take a look.

The next one was Di(e)ce by Saki Otoh and Yamamoto Kana.  And let me just say this: I love deadly game manga!  It’s just… I don’t know.  The whole idea of surviving in something created around you makes for a fun read.   Nothing else can top Battle Royale, but we can still have fun with it.  It is a little Shounen Ai buuut not so much.  It is and it isn’t.    This too, is still in it’s early chapters but I’m excited to see the rest.

Tsubasa and XXXHolic came out recently. It’s so crazy! No one is who they say they are! I can’t wait to see the next volumes.  I really want to cheat and look online for what’s next but that’ll take away some of my excitement.  If I start something in a book, I’ll finish that way.  It kind of inspires me to continue purchasing the series to support the authors and publishers.

Well, that’s all for tonight.  I had better get started on my homework.  Have a good night!

Being broke sucks

Lately I haven’t had much money or even time.  Since I’ve started school again I’ve been dedicating a lot of time to homework instead of reading manga.  That’s a good thing though!

Let’s see.  Last time I was talking about Ai Yazawa.  Fabulous mangaka! I loved Nana! I even loved Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai.  There was one more of hers that I wanted to look at but haven’t had the chance.  I love her josei style though.  Definitely good for the older audiences.

Mmm, let’s see.  I also picked up Blank Slate Aya Kanno and really liked it.  It was very reminiscent of Kaori Yuki’s style so I think that’s why I liked it.  But I was suprised to see that the same author is doing another manga called Otomen.  I read a preview of it in Shojo Beat magazine but would have never guessed that they were by the same author.  I guess because Blank Slate is a lot darker than Otomen.  Of course, I’ve only read a preview so I might be wrong.  It’s still on my “To read” list.

I haven’t really picked up anything else new though :\  I’m excited to see that Five has started up once again on onemanga.com.

A friend of mine lent me Princess Ai.  I’ve been getting tons of Tokyopop e-mails saying that it’s all the rage but I’m kind of turned off by it because Courtney Love worked on it.   I have to read it first though.  So hopefully soon.

That’s about it I guess.  Sorry I haven’t been keepinig up.   It’s probably why I don’t have any readers ^_^

Oh my gosh! Comments!

I’m so excited I’ve actually gotten some.  Earlier today I was considering not paying for my website, but it’s totally worth it if I have at least a couple people looking at it.  Thanks you guys!

To people looking for manga: Definitely get the Barnes and Noble Membership card.  It’s free shipping on online purchases of 25$ or more.  Totally worth it, however, you don’t get that deal if you buy used books *learned the hard way*  I myself don’t like waiting the time it takes to ship, but sometimes there’s no other way.  It does suck you have to buy a lot to make it worth it too, buuuut, it’s nice to splurge sometimes… or all the time.  Whichever creams your twinkie.

I got a comment asking about pop music and I’m sorry I can’t help you there.  If there’s any J-music I like from an anime I download the sound track (and they usually include a couple more singles with them) to determine whether or not I actually like the artist or the full song for that matter.  I don’t really browse music much though.  I only use it for background noise when reading :\

Let’s see.  I’ve picked up a couple more manga.  I’ve just learned about Ai Yazawa and she falls into line as my second favorite mangaka.  She has a style all her own which is usually a nice breath of fresh air after reading regular shojo which sort of tends to have the same story structure and drama.  Not saying I hate it, because I totally love shojo, but sometimes it’s nice to break away from that.

Thanks again to everyone who has been reading and commenting! <3

Manga Mania

Since I found reading manga online, (which I had totally been against until now) I’m pathetically hooked. I’ve read about 5 different ones since last week (doesn’t sound like much does it?) and I must say, the ones I’ve read I’m really glad I found them. I have a large shopping list forming and that includes series that I still need to finish/waiting to be released. The last Fruits Basket has finally been released but sadly unemployment stops my frequent book spending :( My friend will let me borrow it since she’s collecting the series anyway. I regret ever selling it to her!

Last night I read a really good one called “Cat Street” by Youko Kamio and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was totally different compared to any manga I had ever read before. It felt so normal with none of that goofy classic high school scenarios that you usually see in manga. It’s definitely worth a look. Now, if I could find the series here >.>

Before “Cat Street” I read “High School Debut” which was really cute but sometimes I really hate dense female characters and the main character Haruna was just too dense. Don’t get me wrong, that made it comical, but it made it really hard for me to like the character. I also read “Boku ni Natta Watashi” and the female character in there is pretty weak too. I think I just dislike clingyness. Both these girls will do anything for the person they love and obey them like a pet. Maybe as I get older I want the women to be strong or at least become stronger in the end and once the relationship is formed their personal growth stops and turns into a relationship growth instead. That’s probably the point though right? Stupid addicting Shojo!

Last weekend I looked at Skip Beat. I heard of it from my younger sister actually. I went over and she had 5 volumes sitting on her desk. I ought to thank her for that, because Skip Beat is really cute. Kyouko is sort of a dense character, but rather than striving for love she totally hates it! The series isn’t complete so far so I have to constantly wait for updates, but I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Waiting really sucks though!

Frankenstein and some Manga

Last night I finished Frankenstein. I loved it. It was sad and all those terrible things were happening to the poor, crazy Frankenstein, but I liked that I could think about the “Why’s” of it.

Tsubasa has gotten very depressing lately. A story that seemed to have an upbeat cheary tone has gone to total darkness as we start to learn more about the past of the characters involved. I’m excited that Tsubasa and XXXholic are now pretty much at the same point. I was very confused about Watanuki and his dreams but I’m slowly starting to get it. This certainly is a series I can’t to see how it ends.

Negima! Volume 20 is out and I just wish that things would publish faster! I know that it’s going to get good and I’m so interested in seeing what happens to Asuna!

I wish I could be more excited for Bleach (since I’ve just now begun collecting the series) but since I’ve seen all of the episodes, it’s like whatever comes up is just going to be a reminder of what happened and nothing new. I’m not complainin though. A lot of the earlier episodes and happenings are a bit of a blur to me anyway.

Shugo Chara’s latest has come out as well. The story is so childish but I really enjoy Peach-Pit’s style. I’ve picked up Rozen Maiden and am now dying to finish off that series. I hate waiting! I can’t wait to see what happens in Zombie Loan as well. All in all, Peach-Pit is a great duo and I think I will always enjoy their works.

I suppose I’m done going on about manga. There are a couple more, but I guess I’ll save those for another day :)

Twilight, Dracula, Goth

So, I always say that I’ve found something to do with this and that I’m going to follow through, but you know what? I’m not that type of person. I’m such a slacker. So, I wanted to talk about books so here it goes:

Twilight=Overrated. I mean, nothing happened, and the main characters were pansies. I will give credit for coming up with a new type of vampire. Originality is always a plus, but not if the story has no real adventure to it. Overall, I read the series in a two weeks, but was very dissapointed that all the tension lead to nothing.

Dracula= I love it! I was watching Helsing and realized that I hadn’t read it yet, so I made a nice trip to the book store and picked it up. I haven’t finished it yet, but I really enjoy what I’ve read. There are times when the language is hard to follow (Van Helsing has some really strange speeches in my opinion) but overall, it’s great.

Goth= Another good read I enjoyed. I read the manga version and it was better than I expected. I learned that it was based off of a novel but didn’t know where I could find it. I found it really just by luck. As I was leaving with a handful of manga’s there it was staring up at me on the shelf. Serial killers and murder are interesting subjects for me, so reading the accounts of them kept my attention. It was a gripping story for me filled with twists that I was not expecting. I’m glad I found it.

Anyway, I suck at writing reviews and opinons. I always feel like I’m either not giving out enough information or I’m giving out to much. Well, practice makes perfect. Maybe next time I’ll talk about manga.

I figured it out.

So, I now know what I’m going to do with my website, I’m going to blog about things, mostly books, manga and anime and my opinion on them. Of course, that’s what these things are for right. So, hurray for me. I’ll post at a later time my first… opinions? Be looking for it. By the way, I’m adding many pages of my writing. They should be on the side and on the bottom.

What to do…

I have a website, but I have no idea what I want to put on it.  Makes me feel kinda bad for the people who have ideas but no website.
